What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced RAY-key) is a simple, natural, and safe healing practice that anyone can learn. The word comes from two Japanese terms: Rei meaning “spiritual wisdom” and Ki meaning “life-force energy.” Reiki is a gentle healing energy that flows through those who have been attuned to it, a process originally rediscovered by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900s and introduced to the West in the 1940s.
A Reiki session is done with a light touch on a fully clothed recipient. Most people feel deeply relaxed, often noticing warmth from my hands as their body and mind begin to unwind. This relaxation supports overall well-being, releases tension, and helps ease stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. Reiki works with the whole person, creating a sense of calm, peace, and balance.
Reiki is completely compatible with medical care. The touch is gentle, nothing is taken internally, and it does not interfere with medications or treatments. Many people living with chronic conditions find they feel better supported when receiving Reiki alongside conventional care.
Once someone is attuned to Reiki, they have it for life. There are three levels of training, and Reiki I provides everything you need to begin offering Reiki to yourself, family, and friends. If you feel called to learn, you’re welcome to explore upcoming classes and reach out to join us.
